This course is designed to ensure staff are trained in compliance with Australian Standard AS3745 Planning for emergencies in facilities, which outlines the requirements for fire emergency management in the workplace.

Course Details
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements
For the Firefighting Equipment Course, trainees must have adequate English language skills to safely complete tasks relating to emergency management, such as being able to:
- Read and correctly interpret workplace procedures
- Complete paperwork relevant to emergencies
- Speak English clearly in order to explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues

Will we actually put out fires during the course?
Yes! Practical training and assessment involves the use of fire extinguishers to extinguish real fires.
What is the Firefighting Equipment Course outcome?
Once competence is achieved, trainees will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Additional Firefighting Equipment Course Information
- A maximum of 12 trainees can attend this course
- Trainees should wear safety shoes (and hi-vis clothing if they can)
- For identification, trainees should bring a driver’s licence or passport
- This course is delivered over half a day face-to-face with a blend of classroom-based and practical activities
- Trainees are expected to have read the Course Handbook prior to attendance which will be provided upon making a booking
What does the Firefighting Equipment Course assessment involve?
- Trainees will be assessed using a short-answer test completed in the classroom and a practical assessment involving the use of water fire extinguishers to and fire blankets to extinguish actual fires
- Verbal assessments will not be conducted for this course (please refer to the Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements outlined above)
