This course is designed to ensure staff are trained in compliance with Australian Standard AS3745 Planning for emergencies in facilities, which outlines the requirements for Fire Wardens and Chief Fire Wardens.

Course Details
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements
For the Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden Course, trainees must have adequate English language skills to safely complete tasks relating to emergency management, such as being able to:
- Read and correctly interpret workplace procedures
- Complete paperwork relevant to emergencies
- Speak English clearly in order to explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues

What is the Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden Course outcome?
Once competence is achieved, trainees will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Additional Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden Course Information
- A maximum of 12 trainees can attend this course
- Trainees should wear safety shoes (and hi-vis clothing if they can)
- For identification, trainees should bring a driver’s licence or passport
- This course is delivered over one day face-to-face with a blend of classroom-based and practical activities
- Trainees are expected to have read the Course Handbook prior to attendance which will be provided upon making a booking
What does the Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden Course assessment involve?
- Trainees will be assessed using a short-answer test completed in the classroom and a practical assessment involving simulated emergencies
- Verbal assessments will not be conducted for this course (please refer to the Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements outlined above)

How often is refresher training required?
To comply with Australian Standard AS3745 Planning for emergencies in facilities, you should re-complete this course every 2 years.
