Course Overview
VicRoads requires that invdividuals who are employed specifically as dedicated Traffic Controllers within the Traffic Management Industry must comply with the National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management and complete 3 days of training and assessment. This course does not meet that requirement.
However, if your team needs to be able to read and implement Traffic Management Plans and then use a stop/slow bats to control traffic as an adjunct to their regular role (for example – as part of a water asset maintenance crew or earthworks crew), then WAM Training’s one day Traffic Control Course is a perfect solution.

Who can enrol into our Traffic Control Course?
To be eligible to enrol into our Traffic Control Course, you must:
- Be a minimum 18 years of age
- Have a valid USI (you can create one for free or look yours up at www.usi.gov.au)
- Understand that this course does not allow you to be employed directly within the Traffic Management Industry as a dedicated Traffic Controller
Experience working around mobile plant, contruction or roadwork crews is preferred, but not essential.
It’s important that you’re able to speak English clearly and be able to understand and complete worksite documentation relevant to traffic control.

Traffic Control Course structure
WAM Training’s Traffic Control Course involves face-to-face attendance and participation at a one day workshop. Led by our highly experienced instructors, this course is a blend of practical activities, group work and trainer presentations. At the end of the course, there are both written and practical assessments.
As soon as you book your course, you will be given a mandatory assignment which must be completed prior to attending.
Language, literacy and numeracy requirements
Trainees need to be able to speak English clearly, understand and complete worksite documentation, and explain and describe issues relating to traffic control.
Our expert Trainers will guide and support you through the learning process, but it’s important to understand that the formal assessments are closed-book.

This is a proper course. No doing the assessment copying answers from your book. In saying that the way Lindsay explains everything and gives you tips on how to operate a forklift especially for me the first time on a forklift you have nothing to fear. Doing the pracs & test with Gary: he puts you at ease and explains everything well so you are not under pressure while doing them.

I have just completed my forklift license course and I am so happy with the training I received. My trainer Steve was brilliant, he was thorough and took the time to ensure all of us passed our assessment. Even when WorkSafe showed up unannounced to do their inspections, they walked out looking very pleased indeed! An exemplary training facility with high standards regarding health and safety. I got my fork lift licence through wam training. The fella running the class Lindsey is up there with some of the funniest people I have met. His course coverage was in depth and thorough. He is straight to the point and informative. It's worth getting your licence just to here the blokes banter. If this guy wasn't teaching people how to drive forks he could probably do stand up. Staff from entry to your exits, they treat people with respect, free fruits basket to grab, men and women alike, were professionals and polite. The trainers were clear and helpful, tries to make course less boring (though the materials were still boring, but hey, it's in our DNA). Brings in lunch orders by staff, seen female students doing the courses which was cool and not one-sided. All in all, I got two tickets from them and the staffs were not simply there for a paycheck. For the employers, your workers, if they have ears and half of a brain of a 10 year old with a calculator, they can pass.

I paid for and completed my level II first aid course basic life support and CPR for the incredible price of $97.50 and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Great value great customer satisfaction and I had a brilliant instructor named Stone. He was easy going patient and his knowledge & professionalism were outstanding. Why can't I be employed by a Traffic Control Company with this course?
Individuals who intend to be employed specifically as dedicated Traffic Controllers by Traffic Control Companies must comply with the National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management. This involves completing two days of training, followed by completing 20 hours of traffic control in a live environment (whilst maintaining a logbook), before one last day of assessment.
What is the cost of WAM Training's Traffic Control Course?
Our Traffic Control Course fee is $440 (GST Exempt) per person and needs to be recompleted every 3 years.
What type of certification is issued after completing a Traffic Control Course?
Upon successful completion of our Traffic Control Course, Trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment validating their skills and knowledge.
How long is the Traffic Control Course?
WAM Training’s Traffic Control Course takes one day face-to-face from 7:45am to 4:00pm. As soon as you make your booking, you’ll receive our Traffic Control Course Handbook which we recommend you study before attending, as well as mandatory homework which must be completed prior to attending.
What happens if I don't do my Traffic Control Course homework?
Unfortunately, Trainees who don’t complete their Traffic Control Course homework won’t be able to attend the course, and their course fees will be forfeited.
