Course Overview
This one day Telehandler Course is perfect for anyone who needs to be certified to operate telehandlers with a lifting capacity of 3 tonnes or less.
Telehandlers which can lift over 3 tonnes require a Non-Slewing Tehehandler High Risk Work Licence – this course does not result in the issuance of a High Risk Work Licence for Over 3 tonne telehandlers.
Remember, even when a licence isn’t required for a given machine type, employers must provide adequate levels of information, instruction, training and supervision so as to meet their legislative obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic.).

Who can enrol into our Telehandler Course?
To be eligible to enrol into our Telehandler Course, you must:
- Be a minimum 18 years of age
- Have a valid USI (you can create one for free or look yours up at www.usi.gov.au)
Experience working around mobile plant is preferred, but not essential.
It’s important that you’re able to speak English clearly and be able to understand and complete worksite documentation relevant to telehandler operation.

Telehandler Course structure
Over the course of the day, WAM’s trainers will teach you the underpinning knowledge that you need to hold before spending the afternoon covering telehandler safety checks and operation to shift loads in a realistic training environment.
Language, literacy and numeracy requirements
Trainees need to be able to speak English clearly, understand and complete worksite documentation, and explain and describe issues relating to working with telehandlers.
Our expert Trainers will guide and support you through the learning process, but it’s important to understand that the formal assessments are closed-book.

This is a proper course. No doing the assessment copying answers from your book. In saying that the way Lindsay explains everything and gives you tips on how to operate a forklift especially for me the first time on a forklift you have nothing to fear. Doing the pracs & test with Gary: he puts you at ease and explains everything well so you are not under pressure while doing them.

I have just completed my forklift license course and I am so happy with the training I received. My trainer Steve was brilliant, he was thorough and took the time to ensure all of us passed our assessment. Even when WorkSafe showed up unannounced to do their inspections, they walked out looking very pleased indeed! An exemplary training facility with high standards regarding health and safety. I got my fork lift licence through wam training. The fella running the class Lindsey is up there with some of the funniest people I have met. His course coverage was in depth and thorough. He is straight to the point and informative. It's worth getting your licence just to here the blokes banter. If this guy wasn't teaching people how to drive forks he could probably do stand up. Staff from entry to your exits, they treat people with respect, free fruits basket to grab, men and women alike, were professionals and polite. The trainers were clear and helpful, tries to make course less boring (though the materials were still boring, but hey, it's in our DNA). Brings in lunch orders by staff, seen female students doing the courses which was cool and not one-sided. All in all, I got two tickets from them and the staffs were not simply there for a paycheck. For the employers, your workers, if they have ears and half of a brain of a 10 year old with a calculator, they can pass.

I paid for and completed my level II first aid course basic life support and CPR for the incredible price of $97.50 and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Great value great customer satisfaction and I had a brilliant instructor named Stone. He was easy going patient and his knowledge & professionalism were outstanding. Will this course allow me to operate telehandlers which can lift over 3 tonnes?
If you’re going to be operating telehandlers which can lift over 3 tonnes, WAM Training’s Telehandler Course isn’t suitable. WorkSafe Victoria states that those machines require the operator to hold a Non-Slewing Tehehandler High Risk Work Licence.
What is the cost of WAM Training's Telehandler Course?
Our Telehandler Course fee is $460 (GST Exempt) per person.
What type of certification is issued after completing a Telehandler Course?
Upon successful completion of our Telehandler Course, Trainees will be issued with a Proof of Training Card as well as a Statement of Attainment validating their skills and knowledge.
How long is the Telehandler Course?
WAM Training’s Telehandler Course takes one day, from 7:45am to 4:00pm. As soon as you make your booking, you’ll receive our Telehandler Course Handbook which we recommend you study before attending.

More often than not, when someone fails WAM Training’s Telehandler Course, it’s due to not paying attention. Our highly experienced Trainers have worked with hundreds of Trainees to help them become competent telehandler operators.
