WAM Training’s private Trench Support Course is perfect for training teams who are required to supervise, inspect, install, monitor or remove trench support equipment, including devices such as trench shields and shoring.

Who can enrol into our Trench Support Course?
To be eligible to enrol into our Trench Support Course, you team member must:
- Be a minimum 18 years of age
- Have a valid USI (you can create one for free or look yours up at www.usi.gov.au)
Experience working with machinery and safety-related paperwork is preferred, but not essential.
It’s important that each attendee is able to speak English clearly and be able to understand and complete worksite documentation relating to trenching.

Trench Support Course structure
The first day of the Trench Support Course is theory-based, looking at trenching safety, safe work method statements and permits. The second day of the course is out in the field, installing trench support equipment (I.e. shoring and/or shields).
Language, literacy and numeracy requirements
Trainees need to be able to speak English clearly, understand and complete worksite documentation, and explain and describe issues relating to trenching.
Our expert Trainer will guide and support your team through the learning process, but it’s important to understand that the formal assessments are closed-book.

WAM Training has the following support services available:
- A team of Training Support Officers to help your team navigate their enrolment application and educational journey
- Access to our Training Manager, who can work with you to schedule further training (additional fees may apply)

In the event that you think a member of your team may need additional language, literacy and numeracy support, we can provide referrals to both informal and formal courses to help them to get to a level suitable for enrolment into our Trench Support Course.

WAM Training’s Trench Support Course has a maximum group size of 12. We are passionate about keeping our class sizes small so that your team receives the dedicated attention required for a successful outcome.

Hey, I was at wam training around couple weeks ago and I saw WAM Advertising at a Melbourne STORM game and that's what made me book the course with WAM training, they were amazing and straight forward and I’ve recommended few people to go with WAM training, the staff were lovely and they were patient and understanding, if I could start again I would through WAM best experience ever and I got my forklift licence through them and price was worth it 🤩 couldn’t done it without WAM TRAINING, thank you all for amazing experience and thank you to the staffs and Lindsay were amazing teacher I ever had as I’m profoundly deaf and he took his time to explain and face to face with me, thank you once again for the most amazing journey (2 day course was straight forward)Kind regardsRyan Jaeger

Done HSR course. Absolutely fabulous experience. STEVE the Instuctor has provided all information, presented all facts, scenario based experience and roll play. All those info what you need for a course.Good house keeping at place. Trainee were provided tea, coffee and food as well.My course has provided last day lunch, too.I will definitely recommend this place to others. I have also infomed my work that how tremendous experience i had.Good on you guys.

This is a proper course. No doing the assessment copying answers from your book. In saying that the way Lindsay explains everything and gives you tips on how to operate a forklift especially for me the first time on a forklift you have nothing to fear. Doing the pracs & test with Gary: he puts you at ease and explains everything well so you are not under pressure while doing them.

We had Stone as our Trainer, I have been attending these first aid courses for a very long time. Stone would have to be the best Trainer I have come across, it was fun, interactive and not death by power point. I have just completed my forklift license course and I am so happy with the training I received. My trainer Steve was brilliant, he was thorough and took the time to ensure all of us passed our assessment. Even when WorkSafe showed up unannounced to do their inspections, they walked out looking very pleased indeed! An exemplary training facility with high standards regarding health and safety. Friendly reception, plentiful parking, modern machinery and equipment. Will absolutely be visiting again for future courses and will be recommending to all. I did the electrical spotters course. Staff were very friendly, awesome place. They even have a thing where you can order lunch from a QR code and get it delivered to your table. My assessor was great. Would recommend it to anyone looking at booking some training.

I had undergone the Confined space training and it was a very good experience. There is definitely something new to learn with WAM training and the trainers are very much focussed into making us trainees fully aware of the subject. I got my fork lift licence through wam training. The fella running the class Lindsey is up there with some of the funniest people I have met. His course coverage was in depth and thorough. He is straight to the point and informative. It's worth getting your licence just to here the blokes banter. If this guy wasn't teaching people how to drive forks he could probably do stand up. Staff from entry to your exits, they treat people with respect, free fruits basket to grab, men and women alike, were professionals and polite. The trainers were clear and helpful, tries to make course less boring (though the materials were still boring, but hey, it's in our DNA). Brings in lunch orders by staff, seen female students doing the courses which was cool and not one-sided. All in all, I got two tickets from them and the staffs were not simply there for a paycheck. For the employers, your workers, if they have ears and half of a brain of a 10 year old with a calculator, they can pass.

I paid for and completed my level II first aid course basic life support and CPR for the incredible price of $97.50 and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Great value great customer satisfaction and I had a brilliant instructor named Stone. He was easy going patient and his knowledge & professionalism were outstanding. I would highly recommend WAM training to anyone.

I have just completed the forklift licence at WAM with Lindsay as our trainer. He was hilarious, keeping the course fun and enjoyable throughout so it wasn’t boring, while teaching and explaining the course content well which made it easy to pass all 3 assessments. Can our excavation policies and procedures be covered?
Absolutely! Just email them through to info@wamtraining.com.au and we will arrange for our Trainer to do a read-through of the documents with your team during their course.
What is the cost of WAM Training's private Trench Support Course?
The two-day Trench Support Course cost is $5,200.00 (GST Exempt) and a maximum of 12 people may attend.
Submit an Onsite Course Enquiry to recieve a detailed quote, including travel and accommodation charges (which normally apply if your site is greater than 100km from Melbourne).
What type of certification is issued after completing a Trench Support Course?
Upon successful completion of our Trench Support Course, Trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment validating their skills and knowledge. You can also request copies of your team’s certificates after they complete their training so that you don’t have to chase them up internally.
How long is the Trench Support Course?
WAM Training’s Trench Support Course takes two days to complete. We normally start at 7:45am each day, but please let us know if you’d prefer a different start time.
As soon as we receive your Attendance List and Attendee Email Addresses, we’ll send through our Trench Support Course Handbook which we recommend they study before commencing.
Does anyone ever fail the Trench Support Course?
More often than not, when someone fails WAM Training’s Trench Support Course, it’s due to not paying attention. Our highly experienced Trainers have worked with hundreds of Trainees to ensure they are competent in the use of shields and shoring. But at the end of the day, it’s up to your team to pay attention and participate during their Trench Support Course.
How often should my team refresh their Trench Support training?
WAM Training recommends that trench support retraining occurs every 2 years. However, it’s important that your Employer has a policy outlining your internal refresher requirements.
