Forklift Licence Course structure
Training:
Before the first day of your Forklift Licence Course, you’ll need to complete our Pre-Course Worksheet (which will be emailed to you upon booking). The first day of the course covers training in both theoretical and practical components of safe forklift operation. Provided you go well during Day 1, you’ll be ready for formal assessments on Day 2.
Formal Assessment:
WorkSafe Victoria requires us to use closed-book formal assessments across three areas:
- Knowledge (Theory Questions)
- Assignment (Maths Questions)
- Performance (Practical)
All 3 Formal Assessments need to be passed in order for you to apply for a High Risk Work Licence – Class LF.
Key benefits of our Forklift Licence Course
Upon completing our Forklift Licence Course with one of our highly quality Trainers, you’ll be able to apply via the myWorkSafe Portal for a Forklift High Risk Work Licence with WorkSafe. This type of licence is desirable for many jobs, including in the construction, warehousing, transportation and logistics sectors.
Language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills requirements
Trainees must be able to speak English clearly, understand and complete worksite documentation, calculate weights and explain and describe complex needs and issues relating to forklift operation.
Our expert Trainers will guide and support you throughout the learning process. However, please note that the formal assessments are all closed-book.
To give you an idea of the language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills required, here are five example questions similar in complexity to what you’ll encounter during the course:
- List three people you might consult with before starting forklift work, and explain why consultation is important
- What is the total weight of a load made up of 5 layers of 8 boxes each, if each box weighs 46kg and the pallet weighs 20kg?
- Explain why it is dangerous to drive a forklift with a raised load, especially when turning or travelling on a slope
- Name five items you should check before starting a forklift and five checks to perform once the forklift is running
- Describe the steps you would take if your forklift accidentally comes into contact with overhead electrical lines
If you’re not sure whether your Language, Literacy, Numeracy or Digital Literacy skills are suitable for this course, please contact WAM Training by calling 1800 143 343 so that we can provide you with a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Assessment to help determine your readiness.
