Basic Confined Space Entry course information

The Basic Confined space course conducted by WAM Training is aimed at the Resource and Infrastructure industry. This is delivered as a stand alone unit. WAM Training calls this course The Basic Confined Space Entry course.  The maximum group size in this course is 6 and takes only 1 day to complete.

Advanced Confined Space Entry course information

The advanced Confined Space course combines the material delivered in the Basic Confined Space course and the Manufacturing Training Package confined space units of competency to provide a complete training solution for confined space workers who work in the manufacturing Industry and the Resource & Infrastructure industry.

What subjects are covered in Confined Space Entry courses?

Generally speaking the confined space entry related units of competencies offered are:

  • RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces(30 Nominal Hours)
    • This unit of competency is from the Resource & Infrastructure training package and is designed for workers who are required to enter and work in a confined space in the Resource & Infrastructure industry. For all employees who work in this industry this is the unit of competency you should obtain for your employees.
    • This unit briefly covers working with an issued permit and gas testing of your confined space atmosphere.
    • This is delivered as a stand alone unit. WAM Training calls this course The Basic Confined Space Entry course
    • The maximum group size in this course is 6 and takes only 1 day to complete
  • MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres (30 Nominal hours)
    • The main purpose of this unit is to use electronic devices to test the atmosphere of the intended work area to ensure the atmosphere is safe to work in, and includes both visible and invisible hazards
    • The delivery of this unit requires attendees to perform gas testing over a range of situations
    • This unit of competence is delivered concurrently with MSMPER205 Enter confined space
  • MSMWHS216 Operate breathing apparatus (20 Nominal Hours)
    • This unit provides attendees with the skills and knowledge to use a breathing apparatus in an irrespirable atmosphere.
    • This unit also covers the correct fitting, safe operation and routine maintenance of a breathing apparatus.
    • As this unit is not specifically designed for use in confined spaces, it is delivered as a stand alone unit
