Several months ago the WAM training team were contacted to conduct Verification Of Competencies (VOC) for a major civil project, the M80 - Tulla Sydney Alliance.
With State and federally funded projects there is a zero telerence for workplace accidents. This has driven the need for employers to ensure their employees are suitable trained and supervised as per S21 of the OH&S Act 2004. Even if an employee holds a current High Risk Licence or Certificate of Competency the importance of confirming the employees competency confirms their ability to conduct the work safely.
