Bridge & Gantry Crane Operation Training Necessary

Bridge & Gantry crane operation is not the sort of thing you want to or can learn on the job.  Improper operation of this equipment could literally kill you or endanger the lives of the people around you.  Failing that, improper handling of these enormous machines may break them or damage the project you are working on, costing your employer enormous sums of money and costing you your job security.  An easy way to avoid this mess is to get a work safe high risk licence for your area of expertise.  Especially when you consider that training is a necessity under Victorian OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety Act) laws.  Legally, in order to prove competency and adequate training in the use of any kind of equipment that includes an elevated work platform, you need to have a Yellow Card for your specific skill certification.

There are many EWPs available and the more you’re trained in and the more skills are on your yellow card, the more desirable a hire you are.  Your certifications ensure that you are going to operate machinery safely, protecting yourself, your co-workers and your company.  Safety, however, isn’t the only concern.  Efficiency is an equally important skill and training will give you the tools you need to be an efficient employee as well.  All in all, getting training and obtaining a Yellow Card is the only reasonable choice when planning out your career in high risk industries.
